Additional furniture for the inner outdoor space

Initial situation 2018:

• Few seating and standing options for active/passive recuperation during breaks or as meeting places in Irchel Mitte/Süd (retreat, social get-together)
• Furniture in atrium Y04 is underused by zvf catering group during summer break

Objectives:

• Campus enhancement, i.e. multifunctional and more flexible (need- and weather-dependent) use of the inner open spaces for break recreation, learning, or work

Procedure:

• Exploring possible risks and general conditions
• Coordinate design and purchase of 8 new metal benches and 3 standing tables that will not be anchored in place
• Pilot positioning of benches and standing tables for three months during the summer months
• Evaluation of use, operation and safety during and after the pilot phase
• Agreement on the permitted radius of movement of the furnitue by the users with the relevant specialist authorities and units
